Eòghann Mactavish was born to a Starkhaven noble family. The Mactavishes were known to be stewards for the Vael family and both have a long history of being friends. Eòghann's father was the advisor and the best friend of Sebastian's father. During his reign, Eòghann's father, Charles, would act as counsel and knight for the prince. Eòghann's mother was a dark haired Dalish woman who had left her clan for a better life. She met Charles and they fell in love. At the time, their marriage caused a scandal due to Charles being promised to another to make an alliance with a family in Antiva. However, with his charisma and charm, Charles successfully made a merger between his younger brother and the bride of the antivan family. The alliance was secured and Charles was free to celebrate his wedding with his new bride.Eòghann was the youngest of seven children. He has older sisters of varying age, but the one he grew closest to was Rose. She was like a second mother to him, and took care of him when his parents were busy assisting the prince and running their own business. Rose loved Eòghann unconditionally, and would teach him things. She taught him how to survive in the wild, botany, and how to make a fire, pitch a tent, ride horses, and how to string a bow. It was Eòghann's talents with a bow that he would become friends with sebastian vael, and together they trained, Rose attending both of them and mentoring them in archery.Rose eventually would come to marry a Ferelden noble named Caius Trancy.On the eve of Eòghann’s 12th name day, he was spending time with his sister and brother in law out by the lochs that surrounded Starkhaven. While Eòghann was climbing up into a tree to look out over the landscape, he heard distressing noises. He climbed down low enough to see Caius drowning Rose. He fell from the tree and hit his head, dazed and confused, he tried to fight Caius but he was simply thrown into the loch to drown.Whether by the Grace of Andraste, or a spirit of compassion aiding Eòghann. He somehow climbed out of the loch but with his head so concussed, he fainted. His family was told by Caius that Rose and Eòghann both drowned. Grief stricken, the family arranged for the bodies to be retrieved. Sebastian, who could not believe his best friend was dead, rode out with his brothers and found Eòghann a day later.Eòghann spent a month in bed, but eventually got better. He told his family of what he saw, but due to his injury, they thought he dreamt it so Caius would not murder his own wife.Caius joined the Templars after that, and for years Eòghann begged his mother to join. When Eòghann was sixteen, he joined the Templars without his mother’s consent.Not because he had the faith, but he wanted to change the conditions mages endured. He was so empathetic to them, he wanted to see them treated with human decency and respect. He knew Caius would abuse them, and he wanted to get evidence of Caius’ treachery.Many times Eòghann petitioned the order to kick Caius out, but due to semantics and lack of templars to their circle, the knight commander did not release Caius from his service. The inaction of the Knight Commander enraged Eòghann. He could not trust him, and so, Eòghann began to plan. He plotted and schemed for months. He knew he needed to free his sister, but how could he do so without raising suspicion?

Then his answer came in the most unusual place: the Starkhaven tavern.At the tavern the Kilted Kelpie, Eòghann met individuals that would eventually become his contacts in mage smuggling. He laid his plans out for Rose, and she reluctantly agreed to them. Eòghann set the date to three days after Sebastian's birthday. that would give him enough time to attend his friend’s party and return in time for their escape.Eòghann left the circle with the knight commander to attend Sebastian's birthday party. The night was fun, but he was too concentrated on his plan to enjoy it, though he did fake his way through it for Sebastian's sake.Eòghann returned a day before the knight commander and his trusted templars. It would be the perfect time to escape. However, he would never see his plans come to fruition, for when he returned to the circle, he was informed by Caius Trancy himself that Rose, his beloved sister, was dead.Eòghann was beyond devastated and accused Caius of murder. However, Eòghann had been arrested due to his plan being discovered. His plans had been overheard by another mage who reported it to Caius. The cause of Rose’s death was her resisting the templars and attempting to murder them. Eòghann didn’t buy it for a second and continued to accuse him of murder.However, Caius would not hear of it, and for Eòghann's plot to free mages, Caius would have him punished. While he could not discharge anyone from the order, that power resided with the knight commander. Eòghann had been flogged to the inch of his life for his plans. He would’ve continued to flog him if it wasn’t for the knight commander’s return who put a stop to it.Eòghann would live but his back would be marred and disfigured. due to his injuries, he would miss the funeral of his sister. his parents demanded answers and petitioned the prince themselves to have Caius tried for murder. However, there was a lack of evidence that he was the direct result of her death. so he would not face punishment for it, however, the prince of Starkhaven did have him dishonorably discharged from the templar order and made it clear to the other states not to employ him within their circles. Caius left in disgrace and slipped into obscurity.Wanting Eòghann to have a fresh start with the Templars, the knight commander transferred him to Kirkwall where he would be looked after by Knight Commander Meredith.Eòghann was in a very dark place when he arrived in Kirkwall. he was far away from the only home he had ever known, and his sister was dead, and his best friend was miles away. He never felt so alone. he didn’t make friends, and he was a shell of himself. he followed orders obediently. he wasn’t living, he was simply existing. his life went like this for a good part of a year before he snapped.

It was during one of Meredith's rants about how mages were dangerous that an idea struck Eòghann. He would do what he wanted with Rose. He would smuggle mages out and help them gain their freedom. He began to plan and scheme. Eòghann freed his first mage and got them to a ship. He got in touch with his contacts in Starkhaven and other places there, slowly over the course of a couple of years, he built up a network of smugglers to aid him. This started a rumor of the sea eyed cat, a mythical beast that prowled Kirkwall and snatched mages away from the circle. it had caused an uproar within his ranks which Eòghann secretly prided himself on.He even had templar sympathizers within his ranks that he worked in. However, devastating news came from Starkhaven; not only did the circle burn down, but Sebastian's family was slaughtered along with his father. He left the order to race home. it was true, his father was killed while defending the prince against assassins. he thanked the maker that his mother was not present during the attack nor were his sisters. he saw his father to rest and returned to Kirkwall. He would not return to the Templar order, instead, he gave aid to Sebastian when he could and aided him in petitioning the viscount. When he wasn’t aiding Sebastian, he was sneaking mages out.When the circle and templars fell, Eòghann gathered up any surviving mages and fled back to Starkhaven. For a while, Eòghann harbored the mages he saved in his ancestral home. For a time, they stayed in Starkhaven. until Eòghann heard of Skyhold and the inquisition. He took the mages there for protection and he had intended to return to Starkhaven to aid Sebastian in his rule, however, he remained to help the herald. He took over ownership of herald’s rest and ran the tavern while also providing any help that the inquisition needed.LIFE AFTER SKYHOLDEòghann ran the herald rest tavern. He would go into the field if requested by the inquisitor. He would make sure that the recruits were fed and had drinks and entertainment. He would keep in touch with Sebastian. After Corypheus was killed and the inquisition disbanded, Eòghann packed his things and returned home to Starkhaven, free of his lyrium addiction. He returned home to Sebastian to be his advisor and aid him in ruling over Starkhaven.He became a mentor to those who wish to learn archery, and he worked to make Starkhaven a better place, beginning with the reconstruction of the Alienage.VEILGUARDHaving lived a few years in relative peace, Eòghann reunited with Varric and wanting to do good in the world, he decided to join him and Harding in finding the dread wolf. He then meets a new recruit that goes by the name Rook. Together they search for Solas to disrupt his ritual.Eòghann is a companion and is found in the cellar under the dining hall, where he converts the cellar into a bar / his apartment.

GRISHAVERSE.

01 . THE LEGENDARIUM.In the time before the Little Science, Eòghann MacTavish was renowned in the Wandering Isle as a saint. He was a powerful Grisha that could bend water to his will with just a glance. With it he could heal ailments or make the rainfall. He often traveled around the Wandering Isle to help people.He found that he could dwell beneath the water and not need breath. He was often sailing upon the sea and would come to aid those on the oceans when they were shipwrecked. He was the great Manannán mac Lir, Warden of the Raging Waters. It was rumored in those ancient stories that he could shift into a massive seal in desperation.02 . BEFORE SHADOW AND BONE.Eòghann Mactavish was found by the Second Army near drowning on the beach at Os Kervo. It was revealed that Eòghann MacTavish had survived a sinking of a small vessel seeking asylum from the Wandering Isle to Ravka. When he told the Second Army of his story he was allowed to join their ranks after showing he was a talented Tidemaker.He rose through the ranks quickly and became someone the Darkling could depend on. For a few years, he enjoyed his time as a Ravkan soldier. However, more and more he began to realize that the Darkling was not a good man as he first initially thought. So he began to plan his escape.03 . KETTERDAM.On a scouting mission for the Darkling, Eòghann was meant to travel to Fjerda and infiltrate their ranks and become a spy. However, Eòghann made other arrangements. Eòghann took a small sailing vessel en route to Djerholm from Ravka; which made him look as if he was traveling from the Wandering Isle looking for work; however, reports came that Eòghann’s vessel sank and was presumed dead.Eòghann swam to Kerch and when he was nearing it, he was picked up by a cargo ship and taken to Ketterdam. There, he would start a new life away from the conflict of Ravka. He became friends with an elderly merchant and became indentured to her. After a year of working, she had died and left him her fortune. With it, Eòghann would purchase property in 5th harbor and open up a tavern known as the Kilted Kelpie.04 . SHADOW AND BONE / SIEGE AND STORM .The Kelpie became a safe haven for people looking to start their lives over. He was also well known for his singing and ability to captivate audiences with his music. The Kelpie was often packed and with it he was able to keep tabs on what was going on in the world.He celebrated the discovery of the Sun Summoner, but when he learned that she was in the hands of the Darkling, he feared for her safety. So he began to plan how to get to her. It would be dangerous to go to the Little Palace alone. He was disheartened that none of his plans would be of help to Alina.However, when he was approached by two advisers for the Ravkan Crown; they wanted him to perform for Nikolai’s birthday; he couldn’t pass up an opportunity to get to Alina and protect her from the Darkling. Eòghann arrived at the Grand Palace and put on several shows but saved all his best songs for Nikolai’s birthday party.However, he would never get the chance to sing them for the palace was attacked by the Darkling. Eòghann revealed his power to aid in stopping the Darkling from taking Alina, and suffered a wound to his side by the cut. If it hadn’t been his ability to stall the water in his blood, it would’ve ended him. In the move of desperation, Eòghann had to flee with Nikolai and his family to the Spinning Wheel.It didn’t take much for him to heal from the wound and he went to work to aid Nikolai in any way he could. He went out looking for Alina.05 . RUIN AND RISING .When the Spinning Wheel is attacked by the Darkling, Eòghann fights against him and desperately tries to stop the shadows from taking Nikolai but fails. When Nikolai took off into the air, and Alina and her party left for the firebird, Eòghann took off with a squaller to track Nikolai.He followed him everywhere and attempted to capture him a few times but was not successful. He used the sea itself to keep tabs on him. Eventually they returned to the shadow fold, and Eòghann joined the fray against the Darkling. When Alina was successful in banishing the shadows, Eòghann quickly went to aid the wounded.06 . KING OF SCARS AND RULE OF WOLVES .Eòghann returned to the Kelpie some time after Nikolai’s coronation. He keeps communications open through Strumhund’s channels and keeps Nikolai aware of the goings on in Ketterdam. When he is needed for any particular reason, he can be summoned back to Ravka.

HIS DARK MATERIALS.

Eòghann was born on a secluded isle adjacent to the Witchlands. His family had established it several hundred years prior, and now it has grown into a haven for those seeking respite and healing.Lyall’s Den. The city of Hearth and Healing. Nestled by the sea, it is a beacon of hope.His ancestor on his mother's side had been a witch that had fallen in love with a man which she found out later to be a fallen angel–and not just an ordinary angel, he had been one of the Watchers. He had come to love humans and mortals, and took Eòghann’s ancestor as a bride. Because of their unique union, it resulted in not quite so human beings. The bloodline is now gifted with magic and the ability to shapeshift. Many of the family was gifted in bending water and using it to heal.Eòghann’s childhood was a happy one, and he loved his home, and the people who lived there. He grew up learning the way of the witch, and how to heal from his father. Yet, Eòghann wanted more.When his daemon settled as a beautiful ivory, opalescent python named Ciraeth; Eòghann decided to travel the world. He would provide healing and wisdom to those who seek it and would help anyone in need. For years he sought enlightenment, and eventually, he returned to Lyall’s Den and took over running the Kilted Kelpie which had been in his family for generations. There he provides food, healing, entertainment and learning to weary travelers.

HOUSE OF THE DRAGON / GOT.

Eòghann is a creature of mystery. His origins aren’t easily traced. He is from an obscure, small island named Alba, it is so small, it is considered a park of Driftmark. Eòghann appeared in the Sea Snake’s navy and befriended Coryls and over the years, they had seen battle and fought together. He made friends with his Lady Wife, Princess Rhaenys ( korzion ).He retired after many years of service, and decided to open up a tavern known as the Kilted Kelpie. What made this tavern so special, it doesn’t stay in one place. It has a home in Driftmark, King’s Landing, and other major cities around the seven kingdoms. His goal is to bring joy and merriment to those who seek it. How this is achieved is a mystery, and perhaps Eòghann isn’t entirely human.GAME OF THRONESEòghann continues to run his bar happily, earning a reputation for his warm hospitality.

TOLKIEN.

Eòghann was born in the summer of 508 FA to an elven mother and a human father. His father was a traveling bard who had struck up a friendship with his mother. He was famous across the realms for his beautiful music, and would often travel through elven and human cities to perform.His mother was smitten with him and eventually, they fell in love, and had Eòghann. During his childhood, his father died during an accident while on the road, and left Eòghann's mother to raise her son alone. Eòghann grew up training to be a soldier under King Gil-galad. He had a gift for music, and in his spare time, he would perform with his lute.He participated in several major battles, and eventually lived in Rivendell as a soldier and bard. He always volunteered to aid Elrond in any way he could.He was considerably tall for an elf, burly and with facial and hair and muscles and yet moved with the grace of an elf. His ears are subtly pointed.
